I had an original 87 RG550RFR a few years back. Its as good as the original from what I can tell, but with a stronger Wizard neck. Paint might be a bit thinner on my new one compared to the original 87 model. The 87 I owned had a really thick paint coat which was very tough. I love my new one, but it seems to ding easier- I freaked when I picked up the guitar one day and found it had a small chip on the side down to the wood! On my original the paint would'nt chip off and expose the wood but instead would just show a dent on the intact paint. Overall, my own clumsy fault anyway!
